This OCX was designed to make parallel IO and serial IO under Windows 95 and Windows NT4.0 easy. It is now easy to read the parallel port reliably and safely. Doing port IO is now simple from Visual Basic, Delphi, Power Builder, Visual RPG, or other OCX ActiveX compliant languages. Reading COM ports and reading parallel ports is easy. To read a COM port call the Open method with the name and a setup string similar to the "Mode" command in DOS. And then call ReadString, no port addresses or interrupts to deal with.
